Our Go To 2018 Summer Cocktails

It’s getting hot out there eh?

The days are getting longer and the sun is getting brighter. I don’t know if it’s just us but we find we tend to take on more when the sun comes out and the seasonal depression ends. We feel more productive to take on more projects, get outside more and attend and/ or organize more social gatherings. If your like us, two bonafide extroverted introverts, some social gatherings can take a lot out of you.

For us, we like to keep it simple; food, music and DRINKS (emphasis on drinks if you didn’t get the hint). We just love mixing a cocktail after a long day; perfect for a single on a weeknight, or a few doubles if your getting crazy on the weekend. We’re sharing a few of our current favourites with you today! Whether it’s a classic, or a twist on a classic, saddle up and get your shakers ready!

**Also I didn’t realize until I put this post together that apparently we really like pink cocktails…**

Tequila Grapefruit

It is as easy as it sounds – tequila topped with some grapefruit soda!

What you’ll need:

  • 2oz tequila
  • Grapefruit Soda

Its such a yummy and easy cocktail to make for the summer! You can do it with either grapefruit juice, grapefruit soda or grapefruit juice topped with club soda, depending on what you currently have in your fridge! I do enjoy this beverage when its not carbonated, however adding those extra bubbles makes it extra refreshing!

Vodka Watermelon

I can not even stress how easy it is to make this drink, and there are so many different twists you can put on it to make it a little different!

What you’ll need:

  • 2oz Vodka
  • Fresh Watermelon
  • 3-4 Mint Leaves
  • 1oz Lime Juice
  • 1oz Simple Syrup

Add all ingredients into a shaker tin and begin to muddle the watermelon. Once that is completed, add ice and shake it up! Pour over ice and it is ready to serve. Super easy and super light and fresh!

**NOTE: If you can’t find simple syrup in the store, you can easily make it at home! All you need is a 1:1 ratio of sugar to boiling water. Once the sugar dissolves you are ready to add it to sweeten up any beverage!**

Basil and Strawberry Gin and Tonic

I think it takes a longer amount of time to say the name of the drink than to actually make it?

What you’ll need:

  • 2oz Gin
  • 3-4 Basil Leaves
  • Fresh Strawberry
  • Tonic

Gin and Tonics are mine and Shae’s FAVOURITE drink – I swear it runs through our veins. So we wanted to put a little twist on it. Add the strawberries and basil to your glass of choice and muddle it all up. Following that add the gin, add some ice and top it with some tonic. We’ll be sipping on these bad boys for the rest of the summer!
