We all get caught up in our busy lives; we feel as though we don’t have enough time in the day! I’m definitely guilty for feeling this way sometimes (currently right now as I’m writing this with my long to-do list to follow…). As consumers, companies know this and want to cater to that and help out in someway; companies like Hello Fresh!
Hello Fresh is a subscription based food delivery service. You choose the meal plan that works best for you and they mail it every week right to your door for no extra cost. It seriously came straight in front of my apartment door, I’ve never had any of my packages waiting outside my door since living in this building, so I was SUPER impressed with that. The meals are then easily prepared and cooked at home, with a lot of the chopping and measuring already done for you!
Thoughts on the Ordering Process
We got the Veggie Plan which includes 3 meals that feed 2 people, so it was perfect for us to try. One weeks worth of this particular subscription came to $73.99. That seemed a little more expensive than what I thought it would be, but if you do the math that’s $24.66 for each meal and $12.33 for each person, so it’s actually very reasonably priced. We even had a $25 off coupon so that was a nice discount! The only thing I was initially bummed about after ordering was finding out that it was an auto renew subscription, so they would keep sending me meals every week even though I only wanted to try one week just to test it out. However to my pleasure it was super easy to cancel my subscription, and also nice to know it is also very easy to renew my subscription if I ever wanted to!
Thoughts on the Food
Honestly, the food was much more impressive than I thought it would be! Our plan included Veggie Calzones, Sage and Butternut Squash Risotto and Veggie Shepherds Pie. They were all quite delicious! The Calzones had an ‘eat first’ sticker on the package so we obliged. This recipe, as well as the other two, were super easy to make! I couldn’t believe the small amount of dishes that needed to be washed after making dinner! I had never made any of these three recipes before, so it was nice to give these and go and to know that it is definitely something I can make on my own again.
Final Thoughts
So lets get down to the question, is Hello Fresh worth it? For me honestly, no it’s not. But for someone who lives a busy life in a busy city, it definitely would be worth it! These recipes are super easy and quick to make, even for someone on a budget! It’s great for someone who is just learning to cook as well. I’m normally cooking dinner every night already so it’s not something I need to continue to subscribe to for now. However it was definitely a nice break from trying to figure out what to make for dinner!
Have you guys ever tried Hello Fresh? We’d love to hear your thoughts!
