2018 Winter Essentials

Tomorrow is the first day of winter, so you know we had to come out with our 2018 Winter Essentials! With the colder weather, the dry air and the lack of sunshine we all just need a little pick me up to make ourselves feel more awake and comfortable at this (sometimes dreary) time of year! These are our favourite products for the winter to make it through to spring!

FUZZY BLANKETS

DSC02305-02.jpegIt’s the time of year to be cozy! We generally don’t like to turn our heat on to conserve energy, so you have to find alternatives to stay warm, and it’s all about the fuzzy blankets! We keep our apartment stocked with them so we stay comfy all throughout the season. We have a miscellaneous stash but our favourites are from Homesense, Hudsons Bay and our Counterparts blanket from Merch Limited (This blanket is no longer available but they have a lot of other great merch options for other awesome metal bands).

SWEATER DRESS

201812194738831296736129468.jpgWe love to stay warm in the winter but we also want to be stylish at the same time; with this dress there’s no compromise! This Roxy Sweater Dress from The Bumwrap is the most comfortable! It’s literally like wearing a big cozy sweater that just happens to be long enough so you don’t have to wear pants…its perfect! It’s easy to layer with a jacket and scarf, and you can either dress it up with some heels or dress it down with some tights and our favourite chelsea boots from Nordstrom that we featured in our Fall Essentials!

KNIT INFINITY SCARVES

This is one thing we never leave the house without. The amount of warmth these provide in the winter months is why we’ve added it to our essentials list! They’re soft, cozy, and come in an array of different colours! Sure we’ll wear it when we’re outside, but we’ll also add it to almost any outfit as a perfect winter accessory. A few of our favourites have come from Forever 21 and Old Navy.

SUNDAY RILEY C.E.O MOISTURIZER

DSC02312-01.jpegDuring the winter months it’s all about keeping your skin hydrated, and for me I have to include Sunday Riley C.E.O Protect and Repair Moisturizer in my skincare routine! I never have to worry about my skin being dry when I’m using this product! And it is super important to have vitamin C in your skincare routine, so it becomes like an easy 2 in 1! It keeps you hydrated while also boosting youthful skin, and did we mention it’s cruelty free? We are just suckers for Sunday Riley products, for a full review check out our post here.

MUSIC

DSC02314-01.jpegThis year we decided instead of focusing on just one of our favourite new albums, we would include a whole playlist for you! We have found a bunch of new bangers this season so why not include it all in one Spotify playlist? Our Winter 2018 playlist includes artists such as James Morrison, Hippo Campus, Seinabo Sey and Billie Eilish (Is everyone else obsessed with Billie like we are? Like man oh man she’s amazing…). We even threw it back to the high school days and included new(ish) releases from Sleigh Bells and Paramore! It’s a mix of mostly alternative and feel good songs, so give it a listen for some new jams!

BREVILLE ESPRESSO MAKER

DSC02308-01.jpegThis is one the best investments we’ve ever made! We got the Breville Barista Express Espresso Machine at Best Buy as a Black Friday deal. It was still quite an investment price…but so worth it! Coffee has never tasted better! You can make your classic americano, or there is a steamer option to froth milk for lattes and cappuccinos. Let me tell you we have been throwing back A LOT of egg nog lattes during this holiday season! But what’s our new espresso maker without our new favourite coffee? Pilot Coffee Roasters from Toronto is our new obsession! And yes, we are extra enough to have it shipped over to BC…it’s worth it. You can get classic flavours or lean more towards the adventurous side. Our favourite is Monument, one their classics, which is full bodied and has notes of molasses and chocolate.
