Kelowna Dinner Date: The Curious Cafe

Colin and I absolutely LOVE taking ourselves out for dinner dates, and Kelowna is a town with endless options! Sometimes we like to treat ourselves and go a little more high end and sometimes we like to keep it a little more low key. This night we decided to try The Curious Artistry and Alchemy Cafe; which is a great mix of both dining styles! It’s an aesthetically pleasing cafe and gastropub that serves breakfast, lunch, happy hour and dinner.

I have to come right out and say that THEY HAVE SO MANY VEGETARIAN OPTIONS ON THE MENU! I didn’t even know what to do with myself, because I never have the issue of being stuck between more than two dishes to try on a menu, but at The Curious Cafe I was stuck between at least five or six!

It was a busy Saturday night when we arrived, but they had a couple of spots at the bar for us, which is more than comfortable for us. I started off ordering an Apple Rosemary Gin and Soda, which was a delicious twist on a classic, and perfect for gin lovers! They also have lots of local beers on tap, so I was also debating going with a sour!

Colin decided on the Curious Burger, which I unfortunately did not get a picture of, but he said it was one of the best burgers he’s ever had! I can at least vouch for the presentation, it looked amazing! I decided on the Goatgonzola pizza. It’s a sweeter pizza with sweet potato, apples, candied walnuts, arugula, balsamic reduction and shaved parm. It was a delicious mix of ingredients and something I’ve never had anywhere else before. The only downside I have is I wish there was something else on the pizza that gave it a little more salty or savouriness.  I think my palette was calling for something a little more savoury that night before I decided on the pizza, so I couldn’t finish the whole thing, but there’s nothing wrong with some leftovers!

Overall, the service was great and all the staff were chatty and in good spirits which really can influence your dining experience. Kudos to them! I’m excited to head back to The Curious Cafe to try some new foods, some new drinks and obviously some dessert.
