My Three Skincare Must-Haves!

I’m going to be pretty straight forward in this post; there are THREE skincare must haves that I have in my routine and everyone else should include in their routine as well. I’ve only started really researching and investing into skincare in the last 3 years. I had generally pretty clear skin until *BOOM*…hormonal acne hits me at 23. I’ve been through trial and error with tons of products, and I still continue to do so! However, no matter what products I’m trying I always have to include 3 specific treatments:

SPF

VITAMIN C

RETINOL

My mom always told me to put on my sunscreen when I was a kid, and I bet yours did too! She drilled it into my brain so hard that I’ve continued to use it every single day. I’m currently using COOLA SPF 30 Matte Mineral Face Tint. I apply it every morning with my moisturizer, and as the name states, it gives you a matte tint while protecting your skin! The tint helps with wearing makeup overtop as well, because a lot of SPFs and sunscreens leave a white cast. We all should be protecting our skin from the sun, so anyone, man or woman, should be using SPF every single day!!

You know that moisturizer that I mix in with my SPF? That moisturizer happens to be Sunday Riley C.E.O Vitamin C Rich Hydration Cream. It’s a mouthful, but I absolutely love it. It’s a great way to get the Vitamin C into your skincare routine without adding an extra step! Vitamin C essentially rejuvenates your skin while also brightening up your complexion! It’s meant to be anti-aging and can lighten scarring and brown spots. Why not dabble in antioxidants and make your skin glow at the same time??

When I began to break out from hormonal acne, one of the most common remedies I found that people used was Retinol! For quite a while I was using a retinol oil that doubled as a night time hydration as well. However when that was discontinued I switched over to The Ordinary Granactive Retinoid Serum. The name sounds a little scary…but the price is not…it’s a whopping $10.70. We go more into detail about The Ordinary products in a previous blog post. What’s great about Retinol is that I used it to alter my acne, but it also has anti-aging properties, so it was  2 in 1! Something to keep in mind for Retinol is that it makes your skin a little more sensitive to the sun, which is why we also include SPF into our skincare! It all comes full circle!

By including these three important steps into your skincare routine, you’ll be rocking a glowing and protected complexion for the winter months!

What are your skincare must-haves??

  1. What are your thoughts on the whole Sunday Riley writing fake reviews on their products and being investigated by an FTC?

    1. That was a super unfortunate event. I did rethink about using their products. However I was using their products long before that, and although I use a lot less of their products now, I know what works for my skin so I keep around a couple of their products that I love 🙂
